THE COMPETENCY MODEL FRAMEWORK
The competency model framework for Advanced Manufacturing was developed through a collaborative effort involving the Employment and Training Administration and leading industry organizations to ensure the model reflects the knowledge and skills needed by today's workforce. Completed in April 2010, the updated model contains new information on Sustainable and Green Manufacturing, as well as updated key behaviors in several competency areas.
The NAM-Endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certification System validates the skills and competencies of incoming workers and can also be used to upgrade and hone the skills of current employees to meet the changing demands of new technologies, processes, or job descriptions. Skill certifications reduce the risk in hiring and promotion, and can save employers time and money.
